FAROE ISLANDS / 2024
I feel the emptiness that fills the space around me, a road full of minimalism. It is a journey of emptiness imbued with a delicate sense of fear, of living in the shadows. In the Faroe Islands, the sense of the fragility of life becomes palpable. The matter and biology that surrounds me doesn’t attract attention, yet it’s what hides the mystery.
Basalts formed in the Paleocene and Eocene 60-50 million years ago are the foundation of the Faroe Islands. Lava outpourings from long, straight fissures formed dark, fine-grained volcanic rock rich in minerals such as pyroxene and olivine. In the shadows of these rocks, in the erosion fissures, hides life, whose delicacy and fragility can be felt with every step.
All this together creates a picture in which emptiness takes on a new meaning when we dare to look deeper.
